ride preparation
The ride was conceived late 2009 and combined a wish to challenge myself and to raise money for a charity which is of particular value to my family and I. My paternal grandfather died in 1997 after suffering for many years with Alzheimers disease and my maternal grandfather is suffering from a speech impediment related to dementia, a particularly heartbreaking condition for a man who still has a sharp wit and a love of good company. The Alzheimers society has worked hard to raise awareness and fund research into the condition and also provided valuable support to my grandmother and family in care relief.
The route has been designed by me to take in some of the best scenery and challenging aspects of the USA’s uniquely vast and varied geography. It will follows this schedule;
